The FULL MOON occurs on Wednesday, February 16th, 2022, at 11:56 AM EST.
The Moon is full when the Aquarius Sun opposes the Moon in Leo midday on Wednesday. The Full Moon is a time of culmination and the promise of fulfillment of that which was started at the New Moon. It is an emotional time–a time of romance, fertilization, and relationships.
The Leo-Aquarius polarity deals with the balance between all that is personal (Leo) and all that is impersonal (Aquarius). The energy of the Leo Moon is creative self-expression and the boost to the individual ego that we receive through pleasure and romance, while the Aquarius Sun rules the group, more impersonal friendships, and objectivity. This Full Moon urges us to strike a balance between romance and friendship, and between expressing ourselves in personal and impersonal ways.

Uranus transits Taurus from May 15, 2018, to November 6, 2018, and then from March 6th, 2019, until 2025/6. Whenever we do something for the first time, we create a birth chart for what we did – the best example is when we get married to someone, we give birth to our marriage to that person and in so doing, we create a birth chart for the marriage. Sam Bankman-Fried, 29, heads crypto exchange worth billions

Sam Bankman-Fried, founder and CEO of crytocurrency exchange FTX, testifies before US Senators
Paris (AFP) - Sam Bankman-Fried donned a suit and tie this week, abandoning his preferred hoodie and dark T-shirt for a hearing before US Senators.
The lawmakers had summoned the 29-year-old multi-billionaire on Wednesday to discuss the regulation of digital assets in his capacity as co-founder and CEO of the cryptocurrency exchange platform FTX.
Less than three years after its founding, the company was just valued at $32 billion, a capitalization that puts it close to giants Coinbase and Binance.
The personal fortune of Bankman-Fried, a vegan who sleeps four hours per night and who has become a public face of crypto money, is estimated at nearly $25 billion by Forbes magazine – placing him among the top 70 richest people on the planet.
“It’s been pretty bipartisan,” the young boss told AFP of the hearing. “A lot of Senators are really interested in learning more about the space and learning how there can be more federal oversight.”
- From Hong Kong to the Bahamas -
Son of Stanford Law School professors and a graduate of the elite Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Bankman-Fried worked as a broker on Wall Street before turning to cryptocurrencies in 2017.
He observed large variations in price between the online platforms where people can buy and sell crypto money and took advantage of the gaps by buying and selling digital assets at very high frequency.
The difference in prices in 2018 was 5-25 percent between American and Japanese exchanges, he said, which meant that simply by moving assets from one platform to another he could make money.
“There was enormous demand for crypto coming out of Japan, and not nearly as many liquidity providers,” he added.
The young entrepreneur created a cryptocurrency investment fund, Alameda Research, moved to Hong Kong and then launched FTX with Gary Wang, who is now the platform’s chief technology officer.
Bankman-Fried now lives in the Bahamas, where taxes are almost nil, and the platform has its headquarters in the Caribbean nation too.
He defends his choice of location by the fact that it is “one of the few countries that has a comprehensive licensing regime for cryptocurrencies and cryptocurrency exchanges.”
In media appearances and on Twitter, where he goes by SBF, Bankman-Fried has been a vocal advocate for smoother access to the crypto market for the general public, particularly in the United States.
“It would be healthy for everyone involved if there was a regulatory pathway to getting licensed and bringing federal oversight,” he said.
A subsidiary for American clients, FTX US, opened in 2020.
The success of FTX has enabled the platform to forge prestigious partnerships, including with the newly retired American football legend Tom Brady and his wife, the Brazilian ex-model Gisele Bundchen.
The company will also run an ad during the American football finale Super Bowl on Sunday, promising to give away a number of bitcoins that will be determined by what time the commercial airs.
- ‘Effective altruism’ -
Bankman-Fried, who said he maintains a spartan lifestyle, identifies with the beliefs of “effective altruism,” a movement which aims to use careful analysis to figure out how to use one’s resources to help others the most.
“It’s not just like, how do you do some good with your life, but if you want to do as much good as possible what do you focus on,” said Bankman-Fried, who has pledged to give away almost all of the wealth he will have made.
He estimates that he has already donated between $50-100 million to causes such as the fight for animal welfare, combatting neglected tropical diseases and reducing global warming.
Cryptocurrencies have faced withering criticism over the argument they contribute to Earth’s catastrophic warming because their extraction process requires so much electricity, which can come from fossil fuels.
Bankman-Fried said he believes the process of creating the cryptocurrency as well as the transactions will increasingly be done using renewable energy.
Aware of the staggering sums of money he’s raising, Bankman-Fried, who was among the largest donors to US President Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign, has no problem with the amounts being made public.
“If you’re trying to have a lot of positive impact in the world, it’s probably going to be things that people end up seeing,” he added.

Knock on the door: Covid stalks athletes at Beijing Olympics

Beijing (AFP) - For athletes at the Beijing Winter Olympics, testing positive for Covid is one of their worst nightmares, and it can begin with a knock on the door in the middle of the night.
“It was insane, it was a rollercoaster,” said Kim Meylemans, a skeleton racer from Belgium.
The 25-year-old posted a tearful video on Instagram last week from isolation which highlighted the perils of competing in the middle of a pandemic.
Meylemans said she tested positive about a month ago, before arriving in the Chinese capital, but “here things just went from bad to worse”.
“A positive test, then negative, then positive again in the middle of the night and a quarantine hotel,” said Meylemans, whose turbulent Games ended on Saturday when she came 18th in the skeleton.
“I tested negative twice each day in the quarantine hotel and then it took longer to get out of that hotel and I was shipped to another quarantine hotel.”
It is unclear how many of the nearly 3,000 athletes in Beijing have tested positive, but there have been 429 Covid cases in the “closed loop” bubble in which the competitors and about 65,000 others are cocooned.

Among the most high-profile cases is the American figure skater Vincent Zhou, a silver medallist in the team event in Beijing who was ruled out of the men’s singles competition only one day before it started.
Suddenly, the moment he had been working up to for four years was snatched away and there was nothing he could do about it.
“I’ve taken all the precautions I can. I’ve isolated myself so much that the loneliness I felt in the last month or two has been crushing at times,” an emotional Zhou said in a video on Instagram.
The 21-year-old added: “I’ve already lost count of the number of times I’ve cried today.”
- Last-minute dash -
Everyone in the bubble is tested daily for Covid. Competitors who produce a positive result are moved to an isolation facility if they show no symptoms and a hospital if they are unwell.

In the case of the former, they will be tested every day and can get out of isolation with two consecutive negative PCR tests.
There are also rules in place for those deemed close contacts of someone with Covid, but it does not generally stop athletes competing.
Some have complained about the conditions in isolation, including the food, while Meylemans criticised the poor communication, saying she did not know what was happening to her.
The International Olympic Committee says it has made attempts to address athletes’ concerns.
Nathan Chen, who won figure skating gold last week after dethroning Japanese icon Yuzuru Hanyu, avoided the opening ceremony of the Games over Covid fears.
He also been practising in a mask.
For Keegan Messing, another figure skater, Covid nearly torpedoed his Games before they even began when he tested positive just before travelling.
The Canadian then faced a mad dash to make it after being cleared to come, flying from Vancouver via Montreal, Frankfurt and Milan before arriving on the eve of competition.
The stress took its toll.
“Keeping the mental health side of things strong was very, very difficult,” said Messing, who came 11th in the singles event.
- ‘You’re alone’ -

Alessandro Haemmerle from Austria, who won men’s snowboard cross gold, said the “super exhausting” worries about catching Covid started weeks before flying to China.
“Especially before coming here I couldn’t see my family, I couldn’t see any of my friends before leaving because I was scared to get an infection and end up not being able to compete,” he said.
But the Austrian also sees an upside to being in the bubble, where limited interaction with others allows competitors to focus on their preparations.
“I think it helped us a little bit. Keeping the social distance, not allowing too many reporters coming in,” he said.
“And also being in China, not so many people around, and also with the time zone difference. You just turn off your phone and you’re alone.”
Haemmerle thinks having to deal with the pandemic made gold even more satisfying.
“We put in a lot of effort to even be able to start here and being able to get home with the gold is just a huge reward,” he said.
