The Sun is in Capricorn from December 21, 2021-January 19, 2022. With the Sun in Capricorn, we are motivated by feelings of responsibility, ambition, and respect for law and order. Capricorn derives much satisfaction in completion and accomplishment. Standards, structures, and an appreciation for order are Capricorn themes.
Capricorn wants tangible results, knows what is feasible and what is not, and is most comfortable working within an established framework and known boundaries or limits. Working towards a long-term goal is most satisfying with this influence.

Les douze signes du zodiaque
Le zodiaque est un cercle de 360 degrés entourant le Soleil, la Lune et les planètes. Il est segmenté en douze points appelés signes, portant le même nom que les constellations devant lesquelles le soleil passe au cours de l'année1. On trouve des évocations du zodiaque vers -1700. Il a été établi par des astrologues afin d’interpréter les présages et observer le mouvement des astres vers -10002.
Les signes de zodiaque tels que nous les connaissons aujourd'hui sont un héritage des Babyloniens qui a ensuite été transmis aux Grecs, aux Romains puis aux Arabes3. Lorsqu'il entre dans ce signe, le soleil est au point médian de l'année astronomique. Il représente l'équilibre, la justice, la mesure. Il a pour élément l'air5.

Le huitième signe du zodiaque est associé à la résistance. Son élément est l'eau5. Il est présenté comme le signe le plus passionné du zodiaque. À tendance sombre, le scorpion peut avoir une tendance à l'autodestruction6.

Le treizième signe
Une treizième constellation peut être placée dans le zodiaque entre celle du Scorpion et du Sagittaire. Appelée Ophiucus qui signifie le porteur de serpent (ou serpentaire), elle n'est pas prise en compte par les astrologues1. Le signe du serpentaire se situerait entre le 30 novembre et le 17 décembre8.

Le signe ascendant se calcule en fonction de l'heure de naissance et de la longitude du lieu de naissance. Il s'agit du signe du zodiaque qui se lève à l'est au moment de la naissance.

One WHO official spoke of a 'west-to-east tidal wave sweeping across' Europe
Copenhagen (AFP) - More than half of people in Europe will likely catch Omicron by March, the World Health Organization said Tuesday, as the World Bank warned the contagious variant could hamper global economic recovery.
Millions in China were locked down again, exactly two years after Beijing reported the first death from what was later confirmed to be coronavirus.
The highly transmissible Omicron strain has swept across countries, forcing governments to impose fresh measures and some rolling out vaccine booster shots.
But the WHO on Tuesday warned that repeating booster doses of the original Covid jabs was not a viable strategy against emerging variants.
The UN body called for new vaccines that better protect against transmission.
Many countries have stepped up testing in response the rapid spread of the Omicron variant
“A vaccination strategy based on repeated booster doses of the original vaccine composition is unlikely to be appropriate or sustainable,” a WHO vaccine advisory group said.
With almost eight million recorded infections over the past seven days, Europe is currently reporting the largest number of deaths and cases worldwide, according to an AFP tally.
Europe is at the epicentre of alarming new outbreaks and the WHO said Tuesday Omicron could infect half of all people in the region at current rates.
- European ‘tidal wave’ -
The WHO’s regional director for Europe Hans Kluge described a “new west-to-east tidal wave sweeping across” the region.
“The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) forecasts that more than 50 percent of the population in the region will be infected with Omicron in the next six to eight weeks,” he added.
One week of new Covid-19 cases
The WHO’s European region covers 53 countries and territories including several in Central Asia, and Kluge said 50 of them had Omicron cases.
Kluge however stressed “approved vaccines do continue to provide good protection against severe disease and death – including for Omicron”.
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) said that the spread of Omicron was pushing Covid towards being an endemic disease that humanity could live with, even if it remained a pandemic for now.
- ‘Permanent scar on development’ -
The World Bank, meanwhile, predicted global economic growth will decelerate in 2022 as Omicron risks exacerbating labour shortages and supply chain snarls.
In its latest Global Economic Prospects report, it cut its forecast for world economic growth this year to 4.1 percent after the 5.5 percent rebound last year.
World Bank President David Malpass said the pandemic could leave a “permanent scar on development” as poverty, nutrition and health indicators move in the wrong direction.
The warnings came exactly two years after the announcement of the first person dying of a virus only later identified as Covid – a 61-year-old man in Wuhan, China, where the illness was first detected.
Since January 11, 2020, known fatalities in the pandemic have soared to nearly 5.5 million.

Seoul (AFP) - North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un personally oversaw the successful test of a hypersonic missile, state media reported Wednesday, the second such launch by the nuclear-armed nation in less than a week.
The missile carrying a “hypersonic gliding vehicle” hit “the set target in waters 1,000 km” away, the official Korea Central News Agency (KCNA) said.
Photographs posted on the website of Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the ruling Workers’ Party, showed Kim Jong Un wearing a long black leather coat and using binoculars to watch the test from his mobile viewing platform.
“The superior manoeuverability of the hypersonic glide vehicle was more strikingly verified through the final test-fire,” the KCNA report said.
Other images in Rodong Sinmun showed the missile blasting off from land at dawn in a blaze of fire and smoke, and Kim discussing charts with uniformed officials.

This is the third reported North Korean test of a hypersonic gliding missile.
The first, which took place four months ago, was followed by one last week, as the country looks to add the sophisticated weapon to its arsenal.
South Korea’s military said the missile launched on Tuesday had reached hypersonic speeds and showed clear signs of “progress” from last week’s test.
The missile flew 700 kilometres (435 miles) at an altitude of about 60 kilometres (37 miles) at Mach 10 speed, Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said.
Hypersonic missiles travel at speeds of Mach 5 and higher and can manoeuvre mid-flight, making them harder to track and intercept.
The KCNA report said the hypersonic glide vehicle performed “corkscrew manoeuvering” during a portion of the journey.
Russia, the United States and China have reported successfully testing hypersonic glide vehicles.
Russia is generally seen as the world leader in the technology.

In the decade since Kim took power, North Korea has seen rapid advances in its military technology at the cost of international sanctions.
Hypersonic missiles were listed among the “top priority” tasks for strategic weapons in its current five-year plan, and it announced its first test – of the Hwasong-8 – in September last year.
But analysts questioned North Korea’s progress.
“While it might be defensible to describe this weapon as hypersonic, it’s more accurately described as a manoeuvering reentry vehicle,” said Ankit Panda of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
Leif-Eric Easley, a professor at Ewha University in Seoul, said the “so-called hypersonic weapon is not technologically ready for deployment.”
“Nonetheless, Pyongyang’s ability to threaten its neighbours continues to grow,” he added.
The fact that Kim Jong Un attended the missile test personally indicates that North Korea is satisfied with the level of progress, said Lim Eul-chul, a professor of North Korean studies at Kyungnam University in Seoul.

The Tuesday test came as the UN Security Council met in New York to discuss Pyongyang’s weapons programmes.
US State Department spokesman Ned Price said the launch “violates multiple UN Security Council resolutions.”

North Korea has also refused to respond to US appeals for talks.
At a key meeting of North Korea’s ruling party last month, Kim vowed to continue building up the country’s defence capabilities, without mentioning the United States.
Dialogue between Washington and Pyongyang remains stalled, and the country is under multiple sets of international sanctions over its nuclear and ballistic missile programmes.
The impoverished nation has also been under a rigid self-imposed coronavirus blockade that has hammered its economy.

India's Infosys hikes growth forecast after strong quarter

Mumbai (AFP) - India’s Infosys raised its full-year revenue guidance on Wednesday, with the software giant forecasting robust demand for digital services after another strong quarter.
The country’s second-largest IT firm exceeded analyst expectations with revenues of 318.67 billion rupees ($4.31 billion) in the three months to December 31, up 23 percent from last year.
Net profit at the Bangalore-headquartered company rose nearly 12 percent to 58.09 billion rupees.
“Our year-on-year growth was the fastest we’ve had in 11 years,” chief executive and managing director Salil Parekh told a media briefing.
“The growth was broad-based across industries, service lines and geographies, driven by our differentiated digital and cloud capabilities.”
The company raised its full-year revenue guidance to between 19.5 percent and 20 percent in constant currency terms.
The December quarter is traditionally weak for India’s IT industry due to the year-end holiday season, but Infosys and other firms have benefitted from increased demand during the pandemic.
Revenues from digital services grew 41.2 percent year-on-year, contributing more than 58.5 percent of total revenue, up from 56.1 percent in the previous quarter.
The firm’s legacy consulting and technology business grew just 0.5 percent in the quarter.
Infosys said it had signed large deals worth $2.53 billion in the period.
The company plans to expand its graduate hiring programme to 55,000 recruits this year, up by 10,000, to meet increased demand for digital services.
Its employee attrition rate – a key metric for IT companies – spiked to 25.5 percent from 20.1 percent in the previous quarter, with Indian software firms facing an intense competition for talent.
Infosys was at the forefront of an outsourcing boom that saw India become a back office to the world, as Western firms subcontracted work to a skilled English-speaking workforce.
Over 60 percent of its revenue comes from North American markets.
Shares in the company closed more than one percent higher in Mumbai ahead of the earnings announcement.
