This week: The Sun is in Libra until October 23rd, when it enters Scorpio; Mercury is in Libra until the 29th, when Mercury enters Scorpio; Venus is in Libra until the 23rd, when Venus enters Scorpio; Mars is in Gemini.
The Sun is in Libra from September 22-October 23. Libra rules relationships with others as mirrors of ourselves. Meeting others halfway, compromise, and negotiation come under the rule of Libra. The focus is now on balance–finding balance and harmony through relationships with others and through art. Libra is the sign of the peacemaker.
However, life is not always peaceful with Libra in its attempt to restore balance. Decision-making can be more challenging while the Sun is in Libra. Libra weighs both sides of any situation, and sometimes this process seems endless! In Libra, the Sun is concerned about not rocking the boat and not rubbing others the wrong way. Tactfulness, style, tolerance, and sociability are some of the keywords for Libra. On the shadow side, Libra can be self-serving, indecisive, passive-aggressive, and superficial.
The Sun is in Scorpio from October 23-November 22. The guiding principle of Scorpio is “I desire.” Scorpio is the sign of depth, intimacy, and extremes of feeling. On Tuesday morning, a New Moon occurs in the sign of Scorpio, and it’s a partial Solar Eclipse.
In the sign of Scorpio, matters related to intimacy, control, power, money, and sharing will be a strong focus in the weeks and even months after this Solar Eclipse. This eclipse is about new beginnings regarding any of these matters. It’s about strengthening ourselves from the inside out. We can feel extremes of emotion as our fears of loss, betrayal, or the exposure of our vulnerabilities are uncovered.
This eclipse can illuminate our emotional and financial investments, and possibly challenge them. We might take steps towards self-mastery and self-empowerment by tackling things that undermine us and that take away our power, such as compulsive behaviors, addictions, or substantial debts. We might work on intimacy, not only with others but also with ourselves.
Circumstances may be such that we are nudged or encouraged to see others’ values and to consider them rather than expect that they share the same perspective as us. Or, we now must take steps towards managing and handling our shared resources, our debts, or taxes more effectively. An intimate partnership may be left behind, or a source of money might end, and either of these situations pushes us to learn to depend on ourselves and to recognize that we don’t necessarily need these things to survive.
On the other hand, if we’ve been keeping things to ourselves, now is the time to reach out and get the support we need. Ultimately, we are now in a position to understand that changes or endings are necessary for our own growth, and that we can handle these things.
New Moon/Solar Eclipse (Partial) in Scorpio on October 25, 2022
This phase of the Moon occurs at 2 degrees and 0 minutes of Scorpio, affecting people born with personal planets and points at approximately 27 to 30 degrees of the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) and 0 to 7 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius) most significantly.
This is a good time for focusing on some of the constructive traits of the sign of the Scorpion–passionate, resourceful, focused, probing, deep, and perceptive–and consider how to positively incorporate these qualities into our lives. Scorpio New Moons are generally good for working on our self-mastery skills. We may want to pinpoint the things in our lives that make us feel out of control, such as addictions and debts, and work on freeing ourselves of these emotional burdens. We can explore what is missing in our lives that leads us to engage in self-destructive behaviors.
With this eclipse, we might experience a strong urge to act on impulse. However, it will be important to avoid jumping to conclusions and asserting ourselves without considering others’ feelings and reactions. There is a big difference between asserting ourselves from a place of healthy confidence, and asserting ourselves brashly and blindly, which can give us a false sense of confidence or bravery.
With this potent Scorpio energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives that will benefit us well beyond this Moon cycle. For some of us, circumstances are such that we need to pay more attention to these matters.
Flaws in an important system in our lives reveal themselves around the time of the eclipse, prompting us to redo or to start fresh. Something ends in order for something else to start anew. We may be called to give up something in order to move forward into a new chapter in our lives. Although the “new” may be unrecognizable, it is important to allow the necessary surrender to the unknown.
An eclipse occurs close to the nodal axis, and this eclipse is closer to the South Node of the Moon. We should watch for clinging to things that act as crutches in our lives if they’re preventing our growth.
Major developments in the personal areas ruled by Scorpio in our charts are likely to occur over the course of the next 3-6 months. This is one of several eclipses in a series falling along the Taurus-Scorpio axis.
Solar eclipses occurred at approximately the same degree as this October 2022 eclipse on October 25, 2014, and October 24, 1995. It might help to think back to these periods and consider the themes in our lives then in order to get a better understanding of what the current eclipse series might mean for us. Paris (AFP) - Une éclipse solaire partielle a commencé mardi au-dessus de l'Islande alors que le rare spectacle céleste commençait à se diriger vers l'est à travers une partie de l'hémisphère nord.
L'éclipse partielle a commencé à 08h58 GMT et se terminera au large des côtes indiennes à 13h02 GMT, traversant des parties de l'Europe, de l'Afrique du Nord et du Moyen-Orient sur son chemin, selon l'institut IMCCE de l'Observatoire français de Paris.
Les astronomes amateurs ne doivent pas regarder directement l'éclipse, qui n'assombrit pas le ciel, et doivent plutôt porter des lunettes de protection pour éviter les lésions oculaires, ont déclaré les experts.

Cependant, l'éclipse de mardi n'est que partielle et "l'ombre de la Lune ne touchera à aucun moment la surface de la Terre", a déclaré l'Observatoire de Paris dans un communiqué.
La Lune couvrira au maximum 82% du Soleil au-dessus du Kazakhstan, mais cela ne suffira pas à assombrir la lumière du jour, a déclaré Florent Deleflie, astronome de l'Observatoire de Paris.
Au moins 95% du Soleil doit être obscurci pour obtenir une "sensation d'obscurité", a déclaré Deleflie à l'AFP.
"Ce ne sera pas spectaculaire, mais c'est toujours un événement pour les astronomes amateurs - et cela peut faire de belles photos."
- Chasser les éclipses -
Ryan Milligan, astrophysicien à l'Université Queen's de Belfast en Irlande du Nord, est un « chasseur d'éclipses solaires » autoproclamé qui a parcouru le monde pour assister aux rares événements célestes.
Bien que l'éclipse de mardi "sera un événement mineur", Milligan a déclaré à l'AFP qu'en tant que chasseur d'éclipses, ce serait "excitant de retrouver ce buzz".

Mais même avec "le ciel clair le plus brillant, vous ne serez pas plus conscient de ce qui se passe au-dessus de votre tête" à moins que vous n'ayez les bonnes lunettes, a-t-il ajouté.
Il peut également être observé en perçant un petit trou dans un morceau de papier et en laissant le soleil passer sur un autre morceau.
Les trous dans les passoires de cuisine ou même les craquelins Ritz peuvent également être utilisés, a ajouté Milligan.
Milligan a voyagé dans des pays comme le Chili et la Turquie pour voir un total de 10 éclipses.
Cette semaine, il a réservé un camping-car pour un voyage en Australie occidentale en avril de l'année prochaine pour voir une éclipse totale qui durera 76 secondes.
Il se rendra également au Mexique en avril 2024 pour ce qu'il appelle "la grande" - une éclipse totale qui passera au-dessus de l'Amérique du Nord.

Plus près de chez lui en Irlande du Nord, une éclipse totale sera visible en Espagne en 2026.

Bien que mardi ne soit pas l'événement le plus excitant, Milligan a exhorté les personnes intéressées à planifier la prochaine éclipse totale.
"Les gens parlent toujours des aurores boréales sur leur liste de choses à faire", a déclaré Milligan. "Mais une éclipse solaire totale est le spectacle le plus spectaculaire de la nature."

Sunak a juré de surmonter une crise économique qu'il a imputée aux "erreurs" de son prédécesseur
Londres (AFP) - Rishi Sunak est devenu mardi le troisième Premier ministre britannique cette année et la première personne de couleur à diriger l'ancienne puissance impériale, jurant de surmonter la crise économique provoquée par les "erreurs" du mandat calamiteux de 49 jours de Liz Truss.
Sunak s'est adressé à la nation devant le 10 Downing Street peu de temps après sa nomination par le roi Charles III, clôturant la dernière tournure extraordinaire de la politique britannique après la disparition de Boris Johnson en juillet.
"En ce moment, notre pays est confronté à une profonde crise économique", a déclaré l'ancien ministre des Finances, un hindou pratiquant qui, à 42 ans, est le plus jeune dirigeant britannique depuis 1812.
"J'unirai notre pays - pas avec des mots, mais avec des actions", a déclaré Sunak, promettant également un soutien sans faille à l'Ukraine, tout en mettant en garde contre des choix budgétaires "difficiles" à venir.
Parti peu de temps auparavant, le prédécesseur de Sunak, Truss, lui a souhaité "plein succès" – et a déclaré qu'elle restait "plus convaincue que jamais" que la Grande-Bretagne devait être "audacieuse" pour relever les défis auxquels elle était confrontée.

Sunak a rétorqué que le budget désastreux qui a abattu Truss était motivé par un désir bien intentionné de relancer la croissance, mais ses mesures de réduction des impôts étaient « néanmoins des erreurs ».
"Et j'ai été élu chef de mon parti et premier ministre en partie pour les réparer", a-t-il déclaré.
« Et ce travail commence immédiatement. Je placerai la stabilité économique et la confiance au cœur de l'agenda de ce gouvernement », a-t-il ajouté, contribuant à faire grimper la livre de plus d'un pour cent par rapport au dollar mardi.
Sunak est devenu lundi le nouveau chef des conservateurs au pouvoir après avoir triomphé de la rivale Penny Mordaunt, qui n'a pas réussi à obtenir suffisamment de nominations de la part des députés conservateurs.
- "Innovant" -
C'était devenu un combat à double sens après que Johnson ait dramatiquement interrompu une tentative de retour dimanche soir.
Rompant son silence, Johnson a offert son "soutien total et sans réserve" à Sunak – après avoir accusé en privé son ex-ministre de l'avoir renversé en juillet.
Sunak a à son tour félicité Johnson et a promis de s'appuyer sur les promesses électorales qui ont valu aux conservateurs une grande victoire en 2019, malgré leur piètre réputation dans les sondages d'aujourd'hui contre le parti travailliste d'opposition.
Mais Sunak a également publié un rappel codé des nombreux scandales qui ont fait chuter Johnson, promettant que son propre poste de Premier ministre offrirait "l'intégrité, le professionnalisme et la responsabilité à tous les niveaux".
Le président américain Joe Biden a qualifié la nomination du premier Premier ministre anglo-indien de "révolutionnaire" et "assez remarquable".
"Ensemble, je suis impatient de renforcer notre coopération sur des questions essentielles à la sécurité et à la prospérité mondiales, notamment en continuant notre solide soutien à l'Ukraine", a déclaré Biden dans un tweet.

Les dirigeants européens ont offert leurs propres félicitations, tandis que le Premier ministre irlandais Micheal Martin a rappelé à Sunak leur «responsabilité partagée» pour sauvegarder la paix en Irlande du Nord à la suite des tensions sous Johnson et Truss.
Le dirigeant travailliste Keir Starmer a félicité Sunak pour "avoir marqué l'histoire en tant que premier Premier ministre anglo-asiatique".
Mais il a ajouté: «Les conservateurs ont fait chuter l'économie, avec des salaires bas, des prix élevés et une crise du coût de la vie. Le public a besoin d'un nouveau départ et d'avoir son mot à dire sur l'avenir de la Grande-Bretagne.
Sunak a repoussé les appels de l'opposition à des élections générales anticipées après être devenu le dernier dirigeant à ne pas avoir de mandat direct de l'électorat, mais il a promis de gouverner sur la base du manifeste de 2019.
Le sondeur Ipsos a déclaré lundi que 62% des électeurs britanniques souhaitaient des élections d'ici la fin de l'année.

Les médias britanniques favorables aux conservateurs ont salué la nomination de Sunak, un riche descendant d'immigrants d'Inde et d'Afrique de l'Est.

Mais le Guardian, de gauche, a souligné l'avertissement de Sunak aux députés conservateurs selon lequel le parti doit « s'unir ou mourir ».
Truss a quitté ses fonctions en tant que Premier ministre britannique le plus court de l'histoire, après que son budget désastreux de réduction des impôts ait déclenché des troubles économiques et politiques.
La femme de 47 ans a annoncé sa démission jeudi dernier, admettant qu'elle ne pouvait pas livrer son mandat aux membres conservateurs – qui l'avaient choisie plutôt que Sunak cet été pour remplacer Johnson.
Iain Duncan Smith, un ancien chef conservateur, a déclaré que les députés comprenaient désormais la "menace existentielle" qui pesait sur les conservateurs et qu'ils devaient s'unir ou accepter d'être "hors du pouvoir pendant longtemps".
Sunak a commencé à nommer son équipe de tête, avant de faire face à sa première session de "Questions au Premier ministre" au parlement mercredi.
Le ministre des Finances Jeremy Hunt – nommé par Truss il y a à peine 11 jours dans une vaine tentative de sauver son poste de Premier ministre – pourrait rester en poste après avoir stabilisé les marchés.
